British Governers initially started cultivating Tea in Sri Lanka (formerly known as Ceylon) during the mid-19th century colonial era, as a substitute product for coffee when a sudden plague wiped out most of the coffee crop.
Sri Lanka quickly became one of the top exporters of Tea in the international market. The unique soil and climate conditions were one of the biggest reasons for this success.
Ceylon Tea has a distinctly bold and citrusy flavour. It is commonly found in world-famous breakfast tea blends and Earl Grey tea.
